This is not just another film about the revolution of April of 1974. Based on real events, it follows the lives of real people in the last days of the dictatorial regime, in the moments leading to this turning point in Portuguese history, offering a unique glimpse into the realm of revolutionary students, broken families, war veterans, political prisoners and conflicted servants of the regime.
A military coup toppled the Government and the population was advised to stay at home. However, the desire for freedom led them to the streets. The revolution had a profound impact on Portuguese society, and also on the individuals who took part in the uprising. Some lost their lives and were forgotten. This is their story.

25 april 1974, de dag die Portugal veranderde, de vreedzame en bloedeloze Anjerrevolutie die een einde maakte aan meer dan 40 jaar dictatuur. Maar was het echt bloedeloos? Meer dan 50 jaar later hebben we de kans om de andere kant van de revolutie te ontdekken: het verhaal van de doden van april.
Dit is niet zomaar een film over de revolutie van april 1974. Gebaseerd op echte gebeurtenissen, volgt hij het leven van echte mensen in de laatste dagen van het dictatoriale regime, in de momenten die leidden tot dit keerpunt in de geschiedenis van Portugal, met een unieke kijk op het dagelijks leven van revolutionaire studenten, gezinnen in crisis, oorlogsveteranen, politieke gevangenen en ambtenaren van het regime die in conflict waren met zichzelf.
Een militaire staatsgreep bracht de regering ten val en de bevolking werd aangeraden thuis te blijven. Het verlangen naar vrijheid bracht hen echter de straat op. De revolutie had een diepgaande impact op de Portugese samenleving, maar ook op de individuen die aan de gebeurtenissen deelnamen. Sommigen verloren hun leven en raakten in de vergetelheid.
